Election update + prayer points

There are 15 more days until the Federal election and we just entered the Hebrew new year 5780. A new year, a new decade and God has great things in store for us. This month of Tishrei contains the celebration of the fall feasts, so in God’s timetable we too can celebrate Him. But before we can fully celebrate, we have to take care of business.

On the 10th day of this month is an appointment God wants to keep with His children called Yom Kippur or Day of Atonement. The wonderful news is that our “Atonement” has already been taken care of by our King Jesus. In God’s loving provision, He provided the part we could not. Our part is repentance. Repentance has become a misunderstood word to the world but to us, it is beautiful. It simply means to “change one’s mind”. Sin separates us from God but repentance restores that broken fellowship. This month’s characteristics are

1.  Awakening and removing that which would keep you from returning

2. Returning to God and experiencing His Glory.  

3.  Completion and fullness

4.  Be fruitful and multiply

So we declare over the Ekklesia and over our nation in this pivotal time the following scriptures:

Ephesians 5:14 - “Awake, O sleeper and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

Isaiah 52:1 - Wake up, wake up, Jerusalem!  Become strong!  Be beautiful again, holy city of Jerusalem.

Zechariah 1:3 - “Return to Me” says the Lord of hosts, “and I will return to you”. . . Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets preached saying “thus says the Lord of hosts, “Turn now from your evil ways and your evil deeds.”  But they did not hear nor heed Me”, says the Lord

Jeremiah 15:19 - This is how the Lord responds “If you return to me, I will restore you so you can continue to serve me.  If you speak good words rather than worthless ones, you will be my spokesman.  You must influence them, do not let them influence you.

Joel 2:13 - Rend your heart and not your garments “NOW return to the Lord your God, For He is gracious and compassionate.  Slow to anger, abounding in loving kindness and relenting of evil.

Malachi 3:7 - “From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from My statutes and have not kept them.  Return to Me, and I will return to you” says the Lord of hosts.

James 4:8 - Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners and purify your hearts you double-minded

Psalm 51:13 - Then I will teach transgressors Your ways.  And sinners will be converted to You.

So, Lord, we believe and receive Your promises above, as we stand in the gap for our nation to “return to You, our absolute Source”. We “change our mind” and ask that you would forgive us for living our lives apart from You and contrary to your statutes. We thank you Lord for Your mercy, grace and the gift of repentance. May Your kingdom come, may Your will be done, here in Canada as it is in heaven!
