Speak, Your servant is listening
We just stepped into the month of Av which is represented by the tribe of Simeon. Simeon means “to hear and be concerned”. More than ever we need people to “hear” Truth and take it to heart. Av means “father” and one of the characteristics this month is the divine will of God being executed. The month of Av is also known for the time that both the 1st and 2nd temples in Jerusalem were destroyed. Now that we are the temples of God, may we be diligent to guard our lives by drawing close to the Father and take heart to what He is saying.
“Do you not know that you are a temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?”
- 1 Corinthians 3:16
The early years of Samuel begin as a young child in the house of the Lord where Eli and his sons served. Eli did not have the heart to heart relationship with God that Moses had, nor did his sons, who did evil in the sight of the Lord. But God was raising up His servant Samuel under their care. One night the Lord calls Samuel. Samuel thinks it is Eli calling and runs to him.
Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, nor was the word of the Lord yet revealed to him.
- 1 Samuel 3:7
This happens three times before Eli realizes it is the Lord calling Samuel. So he tells Samuel to speak to the Lord if he calls again. The fourth time Samuel gets called, he responds with,
“Speak, for Your servant hears." Then the LORD said to Samuel: "See, I am about to do something in Israel that will make the ears of everyone who hears about it tingle.”
- 1 Samuel 3: 10-11
As we follow the timetable of the Lord we shout out to Him, "God would You do it again, but this time in Canada? Make our ears tingle, so as we hear we will take it to heart. Reveal yourself to us like you did to Samuel. Awaken our hearts so we have a passion for You and that our faith would be a “LIVING” faith.”
As the political process is underway for the Conservative Party of Canada to choose a new leader, let the response of the people of Canada be, “Speak for your servant hears.” We ask that this would be the month that all government officials would return to the original intent which is to firstly serve our King and then to serve people, not themselves. As “Minsters” (members of the clergy: to attend to the needs of) we call them into their rightful place of servanthood; loving what God loves, hating what God hates, serving an eternal kingdom. May deep call out to deep so that the Spirit leads. As we do our part, we know God will do His. So God we ask that You would lead people to vote according to Your desires, in Jesus name.
But select capable men from all the people, men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.
- Exodus 18:21A godly leader who values justice is a great strength and example to the people. But the one who sells his influence for money tears down what is right. Proverbs 29:4
We thank you God that you are from everlasting to everlasting and that Your Word never fails.
