Surrendering to Trust
Jeremiah 17:7-8 But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.
We just crossed over into the Hebrew month of Kislev which is representative of trust and support. Trust is the firm belief in the ability, truth and faithfulness of someone or something. We get into trouble when we put our trust in the wrong thing or wrong person. A lot of times we do this unknowingly, trusting in things we see rather than what is unseen.
Prov. 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.
Our understanding is limited and subjected to our life experiences, what we have read about or what we have heard. We can easily be overwhelmed with situations and life, not knowing which way to turn, if we are not anchored in the One who created us.
Psalm 40:4 Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who makes the Lord his refuge and trust, and turns not to the proud or to followers of false gods.
God is a good Father who wants to have relationship with His creation. He wants a family to lavish His love on, to walk with and talk with like He did Adam and Eve in the garden. He knows how hard life can be and the injury we can suffer. If we dare to trust Him, He can liberate our souls. As we surrender our lives, our disappointments, hurts and dreams to Him, He will protect and care for us better than anyone else, including ourselves. He is worthy to be trusted! To restore humanity and the fellowship He once had with them, God gave His son for a sacrifice.
Psalm 23:1-3 The Lord is my best friend and my shepherd. I always have more than enough. He offers a resting place for me in His luxurious love. His tracks take me to an oasis of peace, the quiet brook of bliss. That’s where He restores and revives my life.
No where will we find anyone more trustworthy or faithful than Jesus Himself. He laid it all down for us over 2000 years ago and He still knocks at the door of the chambers of our heart. Let’s fling wide all the doors to Him who is well able to take care of us. He already knows what is behind each door, but like a gentleman, He does not push His way in so let’s open the door and welcome Him in.
Psalm 91: 1-2 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust him.
