We just stepped into the Hebrew New Year 5781 and God has a lot in store for us. A new year, a new month, a new season. It is also the 7th month, which is God’s number for finished work, perfection, rest and completion. The new month of Tisheri, contains 3 of the 7 feasts that are celebrated throughout the year. Who doesn’t like a party?
Although we do not celebrate these holidays the same way as the Jewish people, God still makes available the same opportunity for us to step into what He has for us. So, let’s receive ALL of what God wants to give us because we know that it is ALL good!
Drink deeply of the pleasures of this God. Experience for yourself the joyous mercies He gives to all who turn to hide themselves in Him. - Psalm 34:8
The constellation God set in the heavens this month is Libra meaning scales. The scales of justice remind us that we alone are never enough to satisfy the righteous requirement of the law. This is good news because it gives us the opportunity to end our striving.
You have been weighed in the balances and found wanting. - Daniel 5:27
God’s feasts that are celebrated this month point us to the answer. The holidays begin with the Feasts of Trumpets. A clarion call, warning or request for action. God in His long-suffering and mercy, continues to offer opportunity for us to join Him in His plan for redemption of all mankind. A warning and invitation to escape the judgements of what is coming on the world.
Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. - Matthew 4:17
After all, what good Father wouldn’t warn His children of dangers. He also doesn’t want any to perish.
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
- 2 Peter 3:9
Not only does he warn us of danger, He provides the way out through His son Jesus.
The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, He will show you a way out so that you can endure. - 1 Corinthians 10:13
Jesus is that way out. God in His reckless love, provided the hope of mankind.
As we reflect on our lives, we yield our will and make Him not only Saviour but Lord of our lives and He pours out what we need. What a great exchange! Jesus forever sits on the other side of the teeter-totter holding us up by His very Spirit in every day, every moment and in every situation. Proverbs 18:24 ‘But there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.’ He provides not only tangible needs but emotional, intellectual and physical. He is as close as we want Him to be. He will not push Himself on us.
So, let’s tap into those unused or hidden areas that we have never explored before with our Lord. Those uncapped wells of provision that will break us out of strongholds that are preventing us from living far above the enemy of our soul. After all, it’s not what we can do for Him it is all about what He has already done for us. So, let’s get to know Him better and be open-minded to the God of the universe, rather than the god of the world.
