Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, “You must not eat from any tree in the garden?”
- Genesis 3:11
Ever since the beginning of time, the enemy of our soul has launched a war on the Word of God. He does this by whispering his lies to us and twisting words. Many times, he brings destruction and then attacks our minds by challenging the goodness of God. After all, the battlefield is the mind. If he can get us to believe a lie, we will live as if it were true.
For as he thinks within himself, so is he. - Proverbs 23:7
We all have areas in our lives that we are not believing truth. No one is exempt from it. However, as we do life with the Lord, read God’s love letter to us, listen to anointed messages and worship songs, the Word does it’s perfect work in dislodging lies that are hidden beneath the surface, setting us free in areas, so we can take ground and draw others to Christ.
“Is not my word like fire,” declares the Lord “and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?” - Jeremiah 23:29
Not only does the enemy twist the Word of God, but he tries to get us to believe it is irrelevant, outdated and boring. If he can get us to believe this he has disarmed us. A soldier out on the battlefield with no weapons will not last long.
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow, it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. - Hebrews 4:12
“The Holy Spirit is the one who gives life, that which is of the natural realm is of no help. The words I speak to you are Spirit and life. But there are still some of you who won’t believe.”
- John 6:63
The areas in our lives that there is unbelief, doubt or mistrust, are the areas where we are robbed from our inheritance as well as the power of God.
And He did not do many works of power there, because of their unbelief. - Matthew 13:58
So, Lord, we confess and repent where we have believed and agreed with the lies of the enemy about You, about ourselves, about others and about our circumstances. We ask that anything that is contrary to Your Word be exposed this month while the “King is in the field.” With your hammer, break in pieces the strongholds that have been set up in our mind, will and emotions that are causing wrong beliefs. Forgive us for not valuing You enough to put down our phones and turn off the TV so that we can spend time with You. We break all alliance with the enemy regarding lies about Your Word. May you give us a new passion to spend time in Your love letter, seeing with “new eyes” that as we take it in, it transforms us into who You created us to be.
We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus.
Amen
